Cosmetic Safety and Contaminants: PFAS, State Versus Federal Regulation, and More

Recorded March 13, 2024   On-Demand Webinar

Overview

Late last year, FDA released a guidance for industry on compliance with the Modernization of Cosmetics Regulation Act (MoCRA), while the Government Accountability Office (GAO) provided recommendations to FDA on improving its oversight of cosmetics. This is part of a larger trend on increased scrutiny of the US cosmetics market, not only from FDA, but also from state legislators and regulators, who in turn are responding to consumer safety concerns. In this webinar, FDLI’s expert panelists will discuss PFAS and other contaminants of concern for cosmetics; FDA’s guidance and GAO’s recommendations, state level initiatives to address cosmetics safety and potential tensions between federal and state law; and potential pathways for improving the overall regulation of cosmetics and alleviating consumer safety concerns.
