The Legal Underpinnings of Decentralized Drug Development
Aristotle M. Mannan
ABSTRACT
This Article proposes a novel approach to drug development at the intersection of blockchain and genomics, while examining its feasibility given existing legal frameworks. Storing genomic data on a distributed ledger could streamline the development of drugs by facilitating seamless information exchange and fostering increased collaboration. Although such a strategy offers the potential to broaden the scope of disease targets and expedite the time for drugs to reach the market, the “decentralization” of drug development presents unique legal issues within rapidly evolving areas of law.
