I. A Look Back: The History of Cannabis Regulation

In this session, the speaker will explore the evolution of cannabis regulation in the United States, discuss terms and definitions, historical uses, and distinguish between Hemp vs. Marijuana, Synthetic vs. Natural, and Intoxicating vs. Non-Intoxicating and Cannabis Medical uses. Speakers will also examine key legislation, such as the Marijuana Tax Act of 1937, which significantly impacted the legal status of cannabis, and discuss federal enforcement discretion.

Post-2018 Cannabis Industry and Regulation

This session will explore post-2018 cannabis key legislation such as the 2018 Farm Bill, the 2022 USDA Hemp Report, and the Marijuana Opportunity Reinvestment and Expungement (MORE) Act. The speaker will also discuss the regulatory landscape for CBD products and state efforts to regulate the cannabis market and industrial hemp.

This session will explore the two decades of state legalization and federal inactivity and discuss the research on the health consequences of cannabis product use, such as the cost and benefits of cannabis control policies, Non-Intoxicating Cannabinoids, discuss the Medical Cannabis Legalization and Adult-Use Cannabis. The speaker will also discuss tracking the public health impacts of Cannabis Legalization at the state level.
