During this luncheon, speakers will discuss a recent multiproduct pet treat recall that affected both brand name and private label products. They will share some of the complexities of the company’s internal investigation to determine the root cause of the contamination and the steps involved to ensure the product was voluntarily recalled expeditiously. In addition, they will review the FDA requirements in terms of providing particular information to both the FDA and the public as well as the steps that a company must take before, during and after a recall is initiated. Perspectives from the retailer and consumers when faced with a recall of a product that was sold and purchased will also be discussed.
