Orange Book Companion®
Why Should You Choose the Orange Book Companion?
Here are a few examples of how the Orange Book Companion differs from the EOB, paper Patent & Exclusivity Addendum ("paper Addendum"), and other online Orange Book subscription sites:
- The OBC provides individual, easy-to-read tables for each product—other sites give you one long list for each letter of the alphabet
- Only the OBC gives you the drug class from the National Drug Code directory in all tables for products that are included in that directory The online version provides each patent number as a link to the patent text which is not provided by the EOB or paper Addendum
- No other publication provides the title of each patent
- No other publication provides the subject matter of the claims of each patent (e.g., compound, formulation, use, etc.)
- No other publication provides extended patents in bold italics, along with the duration of the extension
- Only the OBC tags products that have generic competition (despite their having patents or exclusivity in the Orange Book )
- Full Exclusivity Code and Use Code descriptions are shown in the tables (listed separately by the other sources)
- Orphan Drug indications are shown in the tables (listed separately in the paper Orange Book; not provided by the other sources)
- The actual strength (mg/ml, etc.) of each product variation (e.g., Product Numbers 001, 002, etc.) is included in the tables—this is listed separately in EOB and paper Addendum
Only the OBC maintains indexes of all trade names, generic names, and companies that have at least one patent or exclusivity listed in the Orange Book.
