Membership Categories & Annual Dues

MANUFACTURERS and SUPPLIERS
Manufacturer and Supplier dues are based on the company's previous fiscal year's sales, defined as net sales in the U.S. resulting from the manufacture and/or distribution of FDA regulated products, including sales of U.S. subsidiaries and affiliates.
Manufacturer
A company that manufacturers a food, drug, biologic, medical device, cosmetic or other product that is approved or regulated by the FDA.

Start-Up Manufacturer
Companies with no food, drug, cosmetic or approved biologic, or medical device product on the market. Such a company generally should have a product in the research and development stage. Membership as a Start-Up Manufacturer is limited to such time as a product is marketed or a maximum term of 5 years.

Supplier
A company that supplies raw materials, packaging, ingredients or other services, exclusive of legal, consulting or other professional services, to Manufacturers or Start-Up Manufacturers.

LAW FIRMS
Licensed law firms' dues are based on the number of attorneys in the firm whose primary practice area is and drug law.

SOLE PRACTITIONERS
An individual providing professional legal or consulting services to industries regulated by the Food and Drug Administration or other clients relating to a product regulated by FDA. A sole practitioner is self-employed with no professional associates, but who may employ clerical and support staff.An individual who is a full-time employee of an entity that is eligible for FDLI membership as a Law Firm or Professional Service Organization may become an FDLI member as a sole practitioner provided that the individual is the ONLY member of the organization engaged in the field of law, regulation or consulting pertaining to FDA products.
A sole practitioner member will be listed in FDLI records by his/her name only. No company name will be listed for an individual in this category of membership.
Sole practitioners may attend FDLI conferences, purchase publications and obtain other services at the FDLI member prices. Persons associated with the sole practitioner member may attend FDLI conferences, purchase publications and obtain other services at the non-member prices.
Sole practitioners may not claim the status of an academic institution, government or non-profit organization client to purchase FDLI conference registrations, publications or services at the fees and prices offered to those organizations.

ASSOCIATE MEMBERS
Service Organization
Service Organizations include Consulting Firms, Research Organizations, Professional Service Groups, Marketing and Public Relations Firms or any company providing professional business services or products to the industries regulated by the Food and Drug Administration.

Non-Profit Associations
Non-profit 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(6) organizations whose primary interest and/or constituency is concerned with food, drug and related laws and regulations.

International Organization
An organization located outside of the United States, Canada or Mexico and that does not maintain facilities or offices within the United States, Canada or Mexico.

Academic
Full-time faculty members at institutions of higher education who teach, conduct research or publish in the field of food and drug law and/or regulation. Adjunct faculty are not included in the definition if they are employed by an entity eligible for FDLI membership, such as a Manufacturer, Law Firm or Service Organization.

Government Staff
Full-time employees of a federal, state, local or foreign government agency engaged in the regulation of products approved or regulated by FDA.

Student
Full time students at a college or university, law school or other graduate school studying or having an interest in food and drug law and regulations. FDLI requires students to fax their current student I.D. to 202-222-0933 for Membership processing. An individual employed by an organization eligible for FDLI membership may not join as a student.
