Overall Project Description
FDLI, in partnership with the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), is convening a two-day colloquium on personalized medicine, Personalized Medicine in an Era of Health Care Reform. This is part 2 of a 3 part series. The first in the series took place June 1-2, 2009 at AAAS headquarters in Washington, DC. The third in the series will be held March 8-9, 2010. The colloquia will address the scientific discoveries, business models, and regulatory changes that are necessary to develop new personalized treatments and their companion diagnostics. Other sessions will focus on electronic health records, reimbursement, education of patients and their care givers, and ethical, legal, and policy issues such as privacy, patients’ responsibilities for their own health, and direct to consumer testing, among others. The series follows a successful program on personalized medicine that AAAS and FDLI convened in June 2008.
